It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alexander Ivan Jordan, aged 83, on December 28, 2024 at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital. Born on January 6, 1941 in Englehart, Ontario and raised in Burks Falls, Alex was the oldest son of four children born to Edward and Hilda Jordan (nee Soutar). Alex was employed with the Canadian National Railway (CNR) from 1959 to 1996. While working in Capreol for the CNR, Alex met his lifelong love Barbara (known to childhood friends as Paraska).
Alex and Barbara married in 1960 and had four children, Bryan, Ross, Shalene (Joe Bonhomme), and Darla (John Bagwell). Alex is the proud grandfather of Nathan (Becky), Trevor (Shannon), Anthony (Ashley), Connor, Alex, Samuel, and Olivia and proud great-grandfather to Ayden and Alex. Alex is also survived by his siblings Irene (late Doug Wilcox), Barbara (Bob Brooks), and David (Ellen) and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends.
As much as Alex enjoyed his career as a locomotive engineer, he thrived in retirement, spending his time doting on his grandchildren, feeding the birds and chipmunks, and sometimes leaving his beloved cottage in Dorset, Ontario to winter in Florida where he scoured the flea markets and estate sales for treasures. Alex was a wonderful man who touched many people and left us all with a smile. He will truly be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 28, 2025 at the Dorset Recreational Center from 12-3 pm.
