BLAIR, Dorothy (nee Parkes)
Loved and loving wife of Donald Blair, mother of Rick (Wynne) and Susan, sister in law of Margaret Parkes, grandmother of Glen, Allan, Lori, Tricia, Jason, Jessica, great-grandmother of Stephen, Natasha, Devon, Aidan, Cole, Rowan, Han,Dustin, Jordan, great-great grandmother of Oaklyn, Elias. Dorothy passed away peacefully in her 94th year on May16, 2022 at Muskoka Landing LTC in Huntsville, Ontario. In her younger years Dorothy was an active member of the Kinette Club in Etobicoke where she and Don lived until he retired. She was a caring and hands on grandmother who loved to treat her grandchildren. For many years she had a number of close couple friends known as the Dirty Dozen and the Clan. She and Don spent twenty five years living half the year in Florida where Mom had a few close friends. Dorothy was an avid reader, loved to do crossword puzzles and play canasta. After Don died in 2012, she moved to a beautiful suite in Richview Manor in Maple where she never had to cook a meal again. She deserved it as she had always done all the cooking both at home and for large Kinette functions. The last three years were not the best for Dorothy, mainly because of covid. She never got covid, but her residence was in lockdown so often that her family could not visit and much of her time was spent alone in her suite. She suffered a major stroke in April of 2021 and after 2 months in hospital moved to Muskoka Landing as she required 24 hour care. We will miss her smile, her wit and her generosity both in words and deeds. A celebration of her life will be held sometime in July at her son Rick’s home in North Bay. In lieu of flowers, feel free to give a donation to the charity of your choice as Dorothy had many she supported.
