Laurelle Robertson (nee Tremblay), 91, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2025, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side at Muskoka Shores Long Term Care. Laurelle was born in Mattawa, ON on May 17th, 1933, a daughter to the late Lionel and Corinne Tremblay.
Laurelle was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Alexander Robertson, son Kevin Robertson, and daughter Jill Robertson. Also predeceased by her sisters, Elaine Jackson (Gord), Marielle Chadwick (Reginald), Estelle (Tillie) McCullough (Lloyd), and brother Jerome Tremblay (Claudette).
Laurelle grew up in Mattawa with her brothers and sisters, whom she adored very much- a place filled with cherished memories, laughter, and the unbreakable bond of family. They were raised in a French – Catholic family, as such her faith was very important to her. Laurelle and Alex were married on April 27, 1957 and their life together saw them in New Liskeard, Woodstock, Huntsville, Alliston and back to Huntsville where they spent their retirement. With 4 children, life was busy- full of ice rinks and ball fields, weekend trips to Mattawa full of laughter, music and late-night poker games, and March Break road trips to Florida.
Laurelle will be remembered for many things including her immense kindness, her ability to laugh easily, her yummy tourtière and sugar pies, swimming and sunbathing, and her love of games, cards and bingo. But above all, the love she had for her children and her grandchildren is what will be remembered the most.
Laurelle will be deeply missed by her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Lea Robertson; her son, Scott Robertson; and her grandchildren, Matt Robertson, Sarah Robertson (Trevor), Shelby Robertson, and Kristy Robertson (Keith). She will also be missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Lionel and Colette Tremblay, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was a beautiful light in the world and was loved by everyone that ever met her. She will be loved and cherished eternally.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10th at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Huntsville, ON at 11 am. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
