It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Margaret Resmer (Gardiner), on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Mattawa General Hospital. She passed peacefully with family by her side.
Marg was born on November 2nd 1938 in Deux Rivieres, Ontario. Predeceased by her parents, Mary Gardiner (nee Wellington), Henry Gardiner and her loving husband, Alfie. Marg and Alfie were married for 39 years, where they lived in Kiosk and Mattawa and both were employed at the mill in Rutherglen. Every day, Alfie would make sure to place a candy for Marg at her workstation.
She is the loving mother of Darlene Resmer (Jean-Claude Belanger) and Lori Resmer (Claude Bastien). Much loved grandmother of Kelsey (Garet), Hunter (Emma), Jordan, Kyrsten (Ryan), and Kaylee, Erin and Tyler held a special place in her heart as grandchildren.
Margaret is survived by her siblings Ronnie (Gerry), Bill (Evelyn), Lynda (Ken), Gerry (Kathy), Sandy (Reno), and by her sister-in-laws Barbara and Valeda. Predeceased by her siblings Orville (Mary), Clarence (Marlene), Robert, and Alvin. she will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Marg and Ruth Jones, who shared a special friendship of 68 years, are now eternally reunited. She will be missed by many friends, especially, Betty and Ed Fabian, Karen Glandfield, and Pauline Sloan.
Margaret was an integral member of St. Andrews in the Pines United Church and President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Marg loved her little community of Mattawa and spent many hours volunteering with the Algonquin Nursing Home, Mattawa Hospital, and Meals on Wheels.
Some of her favourite pass times included curling, baseball, bowling, and spending time with her family. Marg was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, spending many hours watching them on television. She also did a lot of knitting, keeping her grandkids, they're friends, and probably even half of Mattawa supplied with toques.
A special thank you to the staff at Mattawa General Hospital for their wonderful care over the last few months, including two angels, Emma and Joanne, who went above and beyond. the Family would also like to thank the staff at Paramed and CCAC.
In keeping with Margaret's wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place at 11 a.m. at St Andrews in the Pines on May 14th, 2022 .
