Mary Jane/Bob Lunham Obituary

Mary Jane (MacLean) Lunham July 7, 1930- July 26, 2025

Robert John (Bob) Lunham  August 21, 1930-December 8, 2020

Mary Jane and Bob were a truly devoted couple, whose love story spanned a beautiful 65-year marriage filled with unwavering companionship and joy. They were inseparable, sharing every adventure and quiet moment with grace and affection. Mary Jane passed away peacefully at the age of 95, reuniting with her beloved Bob, who left us at 90 due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis. Together, they leave behind a legacy of deep love, family warmth, and cherished memories.

Mary Jane, an only child, was born in Toronto to the late Lydia and Ken MacLean, and grew up in the Sudbury area, where she developed her kind and creative spirit. She pursued a fulfilling career as a hairdresser until she married Bob, after which she poured her heart into their shared life.

Bob was born and raised in Toronto by the late Ashley and Kathleen Lunham. He was a loving brother to his older sibling Arthur and sister Mary (Jones). With a passion for the outdoors, Bob graduated from the University of Toronto in Forestry and dedicated much of his professional life to Weldwood of Canada, where his expertise and dedication shone brightly.

For over 60 years, Mary Jane and Bob made their home in Huntsville, transforming it into a haven of comfort and beauty. They delighted in fixing up their cherished residence, landscaping their yard with care, and tending to vibrant gardens that bloomed with their shared efforts. But their hearts truly belonged to their beloved “camp” in the Bay of Islands, a magical retreat where they spent countless blissful days. There, they nurtured vegetable and flower gardens, maintained the camp with loving hands, and immersed themselves in the wonders of nature—from the whispering winds to the sparkling stars above. Bob’s harmonica melodies under the night sky were a sweet serenade to family and friends, creating moments of pure magic. Every summer, they opened their doors wide, welcoming dear relatives and friends to share in the laughter, stories, and serenity. Their adventurous spirits also led them on memorable road trips across Canada, from coast to coast, forging bonds and discovering new horizons together. Both enjoyed packing up  their 4 kids to accompany them skiing

in the winter.

Mary Jane’s generous heart extended to her community through volunteering with Meals on Wheels and offering haircuts to seniors, bringing smiles and comfort to those around her. She found joy in knitting cozy creations, playing spirited games of Bridge, and exploring various crafts that reflected her artistic soul.

Bob, with his energetic and supportive nature, coached hockey teams and built outdoor ice rinks so his children could skate and play to their hearts’ content. He embraced broom ball, curling, honed his skills in cooking classes, and channeled his creativity into woodworking projects, even restoring boats that became treasured vessels for family sailing and canoeing outings on the water.

Mary Jane and Bob will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love by their devoted children: Nancy Renaux (Bernard) , Tim Lunham (Margaret), Greg Lunham(Jill), and David Lunham (Barb); their nine adored grandchildren; and their six precious great-grandchildren.

In keeping with their wishes, cremation has taken place, and no formal service will be held. Instead, we celebrate their extraordinary lives in our hearts, where their love continues to inspire us all.
