It is with sadness that the family of Peter Anderson Todd announces his peaceful passing on August 29,
2025, at Hospice Huntsville, surrounded by his family.
Born on February 15, 1933, in Carstairs, Scotland, to James Todd and Margaret Thompson Todd (née
Henderson), Peter lived a long and full life of 92 years. He was a proud Scot, attending school in St.
Andrews, where he was a drummer in the Boys Brigade marching pipe band and often found on the Old
Course, excelling as a golfer and winning many tournaments.
Professionally, Peter began his career as a civil engineer in Scotland. In February 1965, with two hundred
dollars in his pocket, he bravely brought his young family across the Atlantic by ship, beginning a new
chapter in Canada. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career, retiring from Hatch and Associates in 1999
after more than 30 years of service—where he was just as well known for his project management
expertise as for consistently winning the office golf trophy.
Peter will be remembered for his sense of humour, his devotion to his family, and his lifelong passion for
golf. Above all, he was a beloved family man. He shared 70 wonderful years with his devoted wife,
Janette Mary Carcary Todd (née Niven), and was the loving father of Linda Hurlbut (Jason), Jane Todd
(George Eydt), Kenneth Todd (Taffy), and Suzanne Hancock (Stephen). He was a proud grandfather to
Drew Hurlbut (Robyn Chan), Kirsten Hurlbut, Jake Hurlbut, Samantha Eydt (Mike Daymond), James Eydt,
Spencer Todd, Kendra Todd, Hunter Todd, Lauren Hancock (Charlie Gilmore), and Sarah Hancock, and a
great-grandfather to Sebastian and Ramona Hurlbut and the soon expected baby Eydt-Daymond.
A toast to Peter at Muskoka Traditions in Huntsville is planned, and a family gathering will be held on a
later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice Huntsville
(hospicehuntsville.com), in gratitude for the compassionate care Peter and the family received.
Peter will be deeply missed. We’ll end with one of his favourite toasts by Robbie Burns: Here’s tae us!
Wha’s like us? Damn few, and they’re aw deid!
