Reta Benvie Obituary

Reta Benvie Obituary – June 5, 1922-September 15, 2025
Reta Benvie, a beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on September 15, 2025 at Muskoka Landing Long-Term Care. As a testament to her enduring strength, she was 103 years old.
She was born on June 5, 1922 in Parry Sound, Ontario, where she was raised until she moved to Toronto in her early 20’s. She worked there as a stenographer for a period of time, and met and married her husband, Victor. Reta and Victor moved to Etobicoke, where they bought their first home and lovingly raised their two children.
Reta worked at the A&P head office in Etobicoke up until her retirement. Following her retirement, she and Victor moved to Huntsville, Ontario. She spent her retirement years enjoying warm summers and mystery novels by the lake at her cottage on Skeleton Lake, and her winters at her vacation home in North Port, Florida. Reta kept an open door to her family at her cottage and vacation home, where there was always love, laughter, warmth, and freshly baked goods to be shared.
She was a member of the Alderwood United Church in Etobicoke and the Trinity United Church in Huntsville. The church, and its community, meant much to Reta. Outside of the church, she treasured being with her family and there was no one she would not welcome or greet with a smile. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles, which kept her sharp and full of wit for over a century.
Reta was predeceased by her father, Dave Hudson, her mother, Etta Keivan, her brother, Arnold Hudson, and her husband, Victor. She is survived by her daughter, Mary, her son, John (Patricia), and her grandchildren, Brandon, Kimberly, David, and Katherine. She will be dearly missed by all, and her memory and values will live on through each of them and their families.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the Muskoka Landing Long-Term Care for the care and support they provided to Reta over the years.
