It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Richard William James Pine at the Royal Victoria hospital in Barrie on November 7, 2023. He is the loving husband of Suzanne June Pine. Dear father of Sherry Boyer (Terry), Shelly Dyment (Randy), and Richard Pine. Treasured grandfather of Jesika Boyer (Alessandro), and Carter Pine.
Predeceased by his parents Rosemyle Pine-Powell and Gilbert L. Pine.
Richard was the youngest of his siblings Gilbert Pine (Sharon Doan-predeceased), Judy Foster (Jim Foster-predeceased), Sylvia Somerville (Ray Somerville-predeceased), and Wayne Pine (Betty-Jean). He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends.
In his earlier years enjoyed racing soapbox cars down Drummond hill in his hometown of Niagara Falls. In his youth he was an avid Stock Car fan and driver who often enjoyed taking his young wife to the Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario. He enjoyed taking his family to Crystal Beach, Marineland, as well as the U.S. to Darian Lake and Fantasy Island. He loved splitting an oblong homemade chocolate cake with his eldest daughter Sherry, with cocoa chocolate icing made by his wife.
Richard was a Welder for General Motors, Wire Weaving and National Steel Car. He also taught a welding class at NFCVI (Niagara Falls Collegiate Vocational Institute).
Richard loved cats and had many fur baby's over his lifetime including TikiTik (cat), Marble (cat) and Queenie (dog) as well as the neighbourhood outdoor cat, chubs and others. In his later years he enjoyed feeding wildlife, (bluejays, chipmunks and deer) at his cottages in Port Sydney, Ont.
He loved taking his wife to Burls Creek market twice a year, cooking chicken wings and onion rings in his deep fryer outside, but deeply treasured the time spent with his grandchildren at the campfire.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 16th, 2023 at the Port Sydney Community Hall (607 Muskoka Rd 10) from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to share stories and memories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
