Robert (Bob) Quantrell Obituary

In loving memory of Robert (Bob) Paul Quantrell. Loving husband, family man and cherished friend.  We are deeply saddened to announce that Bob passed away peacefully at Fairvern on March 28, 2026 at the age of 83.

Bob was born Dec. 6, 1942 in Orillia, Ontario to Lorne and Eileen Quantrell. When he was very young, the family moved to Huntsville where Bob and later his sister Janice (Cotterchio-predeceased) lived their entire childhood. His many friends from that time were near and dear to this day. We are forever grateful for the support we received from them and his Dwight friends during these last challenging times.

After finishing his schooling in Huntsville, Bob attended Northern Michigan University where he met his wife Sherry of 58 years. They had two wonderful children, son Michael (Tammy) and daughter Jaime.(Graham). They began their life in Clarkson, Ontario then found their way to the village of Erin, Ontario where they remained for over 25 years building strong and lasting friendships.

Professionally, Bob worked all his years in the field of commercial sales and service of industrial size batteries for fork lift trucks.  Forming a partnership with his colleague and friend, they established United Battery.  After retiring from this successful venture, he and Sherry “retired” to Dwight in 1997.  There, they purchased Glen Manor Cottages on Lake of Bays

Always a sportsman, Bob had a love of hockey, golf, hunting and fishing. In his youth, he was an avid and talented hockey player. He was especially proud when his Rotary Juvenile team was inducted into the Huntsville Sports Hall of Fame for being the OMHA Juvenile “B” Hockey Champions 1958-59 1959-60. He had continued to play hockey enjoying his time with the OldTimers League in Erin. Golf was always a passion for Bob. He was captain of the Men's section at Erin Heights Golf Club and continued to be very active with his regular Huntsville friends.   Bobs involvement in the Butter Bowl Hunt Club was not only some of his happiest times but  formed bonds that lasted a lifetime. His sense of humour and great story telling from the camp were so appreciated by his friends and family.  For many years, he met weekly with his ‘old’ Huntsville crew to play poker and trade stories.  This time was very important to him and not to be missed.

Bob will be sadly missed and always remembered by his dear family. Loving wife Sherry, adored children Michael and Jaime, Proud grandfather to Dylan (Emma), Blake, Mitchell and Audrey, brother in law Peter Cotterchio, nephew Wade, niece Andrea (Nick) and grand nephew Colt, brother in law Mike Young (Carol), nieces Dana, Deanna, Allison and nephew Christopher.

The family wishes to send our heartfelt thank you to the dedicated workers and staff at Fairvern. We are forever grateful for their diligent care and support of Bob during his time with them.

Celebration of life details at a later date.
