Valerie Diane (Beacroft) Mortenson

In Memory of MORTENSON, Valerie Diane (nee Beacroft)

Peacefully on October 30, 2022 with her daughter Carolyn by her side at the age of 83.  She was a loving wife of Peter Mortenson for 60 years.  Born in Toronto, Ontario, Daughter of the late Herbert and Florence Beacroft.  She was a cherished mom to Carolyn Goldring (Paul) and Stephanie Mortenson (Jeff) and an incredible Nanny to Samatha and Allyson Goldring.  She held them in her heart so dearly.  She lovingly remembers her late sister Beverly Brown (Jack), sister-in-law Betty Cooper (Gerald), brother-in-laws Austin Mortenson (Elsie), the late David Mortenson (Betty) and she will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Valerie had a wonderful life and was a kind, thoughtful woman who touched everyone in a special way.  She retired from  Celestica after 14 years of service and then with her husband Peter fulfilled their dream of building a home in Malagash, Nova Scotia where they spent many of their retirement years hosting lobster dinners and family gatherings (she certainly knew how to throw a great party)!  She is a proud member of the Malagash United Church, choir and UCW.

Thank you to her Doctor Allison Small for the wonderful care she has given Valerie during her time in Huntsville the last 5 years and especially during her last few weeks.  Also thank you for the exceptional care at the Huntsville Hospice/Algonquin Grace during Valerie's few weeks there and all of the staff were so wonderful especially during her last few moments with us.

There will be a celebration of life both in Ontario and Nova Scotia at a later date and will notify family and friends once details have been confirmed.  Cremation has taken place and Valerie's final resting place will be in Malagash Nova Scotia.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to Huntsville Hospice/Algonquin Grace would be greatly appreciated.
