Wayne Alfred Saunders
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Linda, daughter Rebecca, and her daughters Rachel (Alex) and Sarah (Ben). Daughter Kelly (Michael) her daughters Kasey and Jorja as well as his great granddaughter Kennedy. Wayne was definitely surrounded by a lot of ladies! Wayne is also mourned by his brothers Bill (Jen), Leonard (Nancy) and sisters Shirley (Virgil), Gwen (Barry) and Jackie (Ken). Many Nieces and Nephews all held special places in his heart also.
Wayne worked at Hidden Hitch for over 30 years as a millwright mechanic, a job he loved. He made many friends, and many long lasting memories with his coworkers.
Wayne was the backbone of his family, hosting the family pig roast for many years, where many lifelong memories were made with family and friends. The best memories were always showcased on the "Fridge of Shame".
Wayne was a man that loved the outdoors, and spent many hours on the lake fishing as well as hunting. He loved working on vehicles, taking the rusty and old, and giving them a shiny new life. There was nothing with an engine that he couldn't fix. He was a well recognized master craftsman, even taking on the challenge of designing and building custom wood stoves. You know you've got a Saunders Original, if it has the famous welded hallmark "W.A.S."
In his later years, he made the holiday goer best dressed list, as him and Linda headed for warmer climates. You may not have known him by name, but the safari outfit was a head turner.
Dad's final days were peaceful, and he was comforted by the love of his family, and the incredible people at Huntsville Hospice. Just like the rest of us, I'm sure they'll smile with fondness when they think of him.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the OSPCA or an animal rescue of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Wayne's life will take place October 5th, 2024, at the Burk's Falls Legion, from 1-4 pm.
